Fans of Treyarch’s games should be more than familiar with the Flamethrower, as it featured in many of the studio’sCall of Dutytitles. Ifthe Hand Cannon scorestreakis any indication, fans can expect theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warversion to function like the one seen inCall of Duty: Black Ops 3andCall of Duty: Black Ops 4. Wielded by the specialist Outbreak, the Purifier saw any enemies that were touched by the flame dying seconds after they were ignited. While it boasts a decent enough range, players will want to get to close to be effective.

Treyarch confirmed that this crowd control weapon will function like other weapon-based scorestreaks, meaning that if it is equipped and fired, it will be removed from the player’s inventory upon death. This means thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfanswill need to be strategic when it comes to their time with the Flamethrower, as a misuse could easily result in a wasted scorestreak. While an exact cost is unknown, Treyarch has confirmed that it is not a “higher-cost scorestreak.” As such, players can expect it to have a low-mid range price.

Another thing of note about the Flamethrower is that it will also be making its way toCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarZombies. Described as being a cut above the Combat Bow, the Flamethrower should be able to deal some decent damage against the undead. It could prove particularly useful in a smaller map like Mauer Der Toten, though players will likely be better off using a Chopper Gunner in Outbreak’s massive regions.

While it remains to be seen ifCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s leaked Attack Dogswill come in Season 6, fans should be pleased that Season 5 is bringing a new streak to mess around with. While it may not be as devastating as the high-tier options, it could still get a lot of use.
