Brawlhallahas announced its newest Legend, Mako the Shark. The ferocious daughter of Poseidon wields katars and a greatsword, and can be unlocked by in-game payment as of Patch 4.07.

Mako the Shark is the first Legend to be released sinceBrawlhallaadded Jaeyun, its 50th Legend. She features admirable Speed and Attack stats (8/10 and 6/10, respectively,) but lacks in the Dexterity and Defense departments (both 4/10). Needless to say, her unusual agility makes for a delightful complement to the normally-bulky greatsword, as do the swift katars.

If wielding katars, Mako’s Heavy Attacks grant a decent amount of added mobility.Using touch controls on the mobile versionmay prove a bit tricky with some of the leaps she makes, but otherwise, she gives players a nice speed-strength balance. She’s able to push enemies far back with a whirlpool by using her Down + Heavy Attack, or stealthily swim past them for a lunging attack with a Left/Right + Heavy Attack. Her greatsword, on the other hand, allows her to sweep enemies forward with a Left/Right + Heavy Attack. She certainly seems to give players a good degree of crowd control.

Mako is being released with three new skins, as part of a larger patch (4.07) that also features new challenges for the Synthwave Battle Pass, free new emotes and avatars, and a new Brawl of the Week: Ghost Brawl. Players should register to vote, and then check outBrawlhallain-game or online to claim their free goodies, but they’ll need to shell out some in-game currency for Mako’s new skins, or Mako herself. That said, like therecently released Jaeyun, Mako the Shark will inevitably join the free weekly rotation of characters, so frugal players need only be patient.

Her three initial skins offer a lovely variety of characterization, such as the “0RC4-M4k0” skin, which lets Mako turn into an orca whale version of herself. GivenBrawlhalla’s penchant for crossover charactersthat are often semi-clones of existing characters (if not simply full clones), this new release is being well-received by fans of the free-to-playSmash Bros.clone.

Brawlhallais available now on the App Store, Google Play, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
