Summary

The villagers inDisney Dreamlight Valleyare made up of beloved Disney characters from across a wide range of popular franchises. Classic characters join forces with modern characters to live peacefully with one another in the player’s Valley, but they can also accompany the player as they complete quests, harvest crops, mine for gems, and so on.

Once a character reaches level two, the player can decide what they specialize in, such as fishing, foraging, mining, etc., but other than that, there aren’t any stats that separate certain villagers from others. However, some villagers are a little more eye-catching than others, and some particularly noteworthy ones are sure to have a bigger impact as companions.

As mentioned, there is no difference between villagers in terms of skill sets other than the specialty that the player will choose for them at rank two.

10Beast

A Beastly Bodyguard

Beast is an iconic character from theBeauty and the BeastDisney movie, which is considered to be one of thebest animated feature filmsDisney has ever created. He makes it onto this list because it’s undeniably fun to have a huge, hulking character following the player around. It’s hard not to feel like he is acting as a personal bodyguard.

Players can get the same effect with other characters, too - such as Maui fromMoanaor Sulley fromMonsters, Inc., but Beast stands out due to his infamous nature and his relatable, shy, and somewhat anxious personality.

9Oswald The Lucky Rabbit

Monochrome Madness And A Unique Conversationalist

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is one of Walt Disney’s earliest creations, making his debut in 1927. Along with other classic characters such asMickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, Oswald can also become a villager inDisney Dreamlight Valley, although this is only possible for those with theA Rift in Timeexpansion.

Oswald is a unique villager as he has an entirely black-and-white color scheme that mirrors the animation style from the time he was created. He doesn’t talk (though he does make random noises), but a description will appear on the screen in a black-and-white box to say how he is reacting as players talk to him, making him all the more unique. His old-timey style makes him a very fun villager to accompany players as they explore the valley.

8Olaf

A Not So Abominable Snowman

It’s not every day that players can engage in a game whereina sentient snowmancan follow them around as they embark on quests, butDisney Dreamlight Valleyallows gamers to do so if Olaf is chosen as a companion.

Olaf quickly rose to fame in the world of Disney characters following his appearance in the 2013 smash hitFrozen. He reprised his role in 2019’sFrozen 2, and he is still considered to be one of the most well known Disney sidekicks today. Olaf waddles around behind the player when accompanying them, standing out for being a snowman (obviously) but also because of his boundless optimism, which remains no matter what task he is given.

7Mike Wazowski

A Monster, A Myth, And A Meme

Even those who aren’t big fans ofthe 2001 Pixar classicMonsters, Inc.are likely to recognize the round, green monster that is Mike Wazowski thanks to his massive eyeball and his popularity in a wide range of internet memes.

It’s hard for players not to be entertained as he follows them around the Valley, occasionally pausing to try out his stand-up comedy routine. It’s not so much what he says that makes him a memorable villager, though; it’s more his general appearance and slightly creepy habit of staring ominously into the abyss with that one gigantic eye. Partially hilarious and partially unnerving, Mike is a must-have villager forMonsters, Inc.fans and high-quality meme-enjoyers alike.

6Jack Skellington

The Charming Yet Intimidating Pumpkin King

Following his debut in the 1993 stop-motion animation filmThe Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Skellington became an iconic Disney character. Thesix-foot-eight tall skeletonmanages to be both charming and terrifying, so it’s no surprise that it can be a fun and eye-catching choice should players decide to have him accompany them around the Valley.

Much like with Beast, Jack’s large nature makes him feel like a personal bodyguard, albeit a slightly more slender one than Beast due to his lack of flesh. He’s literally all bones, after all.

5Mushu

A Tiny But Fiery Dragon

One of the major jokes in the classic Disney movieMulanrevolved around Mulan’s Guardian Dragon spirit Mushu and his tiny size. Mushu is often mistaken for a regular lizard because he is so small, but he isa genuine, fire-breathing dragonnonetheless (albeit a little one). InDisney Dreamlight Valley, Mushu can become a villager, and his tiny size becomes all the more apparent if he is recruited to join the player on their adventures.

Mushu will struggle to keep up as he runs behind the player thanks to his little legs, which is as funny as it is adorable. There is no denying that it is cool for players to have their own, personal dragon guardian by their side, too, even if he is an itty-bitty boy.

4Woody

An Adorable Toy And A Loyal Friend

When it comes toToy Storyvillagers, some players might prefer to have resident Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear with them inDisney Dreamlight Valley, but an argument can easily be made for Woody the cowboy doll purely for camaraderie purposes.

Buzz’s quests revolve around him teaching the player to become a fully-fledged Space Ranger, but Woody always has more of a focus on protecting the player and being the best toy he can be for them, making him a noteworthy villager to have around. Woody is a caring villager, but it’s also cute to see him following the player around due to his small size.

3WALL-E

The World’s Cutest Trash Compactor

While on the topic of cute companions, WALL-E is certainly up there as one of the most adorable. It’s awesome to havea personal robot friendaround, especially when it’s one as sweet and loving as WALL-E.

Players who prefer WALL-E’s friend EVE can opt to have her as a companion instead if they have theA Rift in Timeexpansion, but WALL-E could easily be argued as the better choice due to his undeniable charm and status as a true Disney and Pixar legend.

2Simba

The Pride Rock Monarch

There are a few animal friends that can become villagers inDisney Dreamlight Valley, including Simba, Nala, and Scar fromThe Lion Kingseries. Simba is the lion who stands out, however, thanks to just how massive of an impact his character has had on generations of Disney fans sinceThe Lion Kingfirst released in 1994. Simba is a legendary Disney character, so it would be impossible not to consider him to be one of thebest villagers inDisney Dreamlight Valley.

Regarding Simba’s position as a villager, it’s a lot of fun to have a lion companion following as the player goes about their business in the Valley. For those who want an animal Disney character to escort them around their Valley, this iconic lion is the perfect choice.

1Stitch

A Hyper Alien And A Talented Ukulele Player

Everyone’s favorite adorable blue alien, Stitch, from theLilo and Stitchfranchise is arguably thebest villager inDisney Dreamlight Valleybecause of his cute uniqueness. Stitch has an interesting design that makes him stand out from other Disney characters, as he looks a little like a cross between a puppy and a koala.

When accompanying the player, he will occasionally pull out his ukulele and start strumming a little tune, which is a nice touch that references him learning to play in the originalLilo and Stitchmovie. Stitch has become a Disney icon for good reason, and his chaotic yet charming nature makes him one of the best villagers to have as a companion inDisney Dreamlight Valley.
