Every one of their fighting games is packed full of a vibrant cast of fighters who are all extremely different in how they play, with some being designed to be a lot easier to jump into and far less complex in their mechanics, while others can take a lot more practice to learn.
With that being said, players are already discovering that there are a select few characters inGranblue Fantasy Versus: Risingwho are proving to be extremely effective in terms of their damage, speed, and defense. Of course, every character has its pros and cons, but the negatives of the fighters listed below are largely overshadowed by just how powerful they are as an overall character.
7Charlotta
Charlotta’s Agility Makes Her Incredibly Hard To Predict
Charlotta’s small staturemight make her look a little less intimidating than some of her peers, but it also grants her an incredible amount of agility which she can use in all of her attacks to rushdown the opponent, giving them no time to react. Her spinning dash is an especially annoying move to deal with because not only is it incredibly fast, but it can also be used again almost immediately after it’s been performed, making it ideal for maintaining pressure and controlling the neutral game.
Her jump is also a lot faster than other characters, which allows her to continuously poke the enemy from up high. Her range might not be too great, but this doesn’t matter too much considering how quickly Charlotta can close the gap in a fight, always forcing the enemy to predict her next move if they want any chance of fighting back.
6Metera
Metera Is A Zoner Who Isn’t Afraid To Get Up Close And Personal When She Needs To
Metera is quite a unique character. While she technically fits the zoner archetype thanks to her dangerous projectiles, she also has plenty of tools to help her get up close and personal too, which grants her a lot of combo potential. One of her best moves is a hop that propels Metera towards the opponent while staying fairly low to the ground, but what makes it especially dangerous is thatshe can fire off arrows while in mid-air, granting her a safe option to rushdown the opposing fighter.
This variation is what makes Metera such a tricky character to fight since it’s never clear whether a player is going to rely on just her projectiles, or if they plan to mix them in with a few close-quarter combos. Whichever playstyle they pick, Metera is still going to be a force to be reckoned with thanks to her unique moveset and abilities.
5Vaseraga
Vaseraga’s Armor Mixed With His Devastating Attacks Make Him Truly Dangerous
Most of the time, when a character as gigantic as Vaseraga appears as a playable character in a fighting game, they are usually burdened with having very slow movement due to their immense strength, but this isn’t the case withthis scythe-wielding warrior. Vaseraga does still have plenty of heavy moves, such as a devastating command grab and more than enough armor to go around, but he also possesses a fearsome tackle which gives him the option to charge head-first into the battle whenever he needs to.
It also needs to be said that Vaseraga has some of the best pokes in the game, with his attacks having an incredibly large radius which more than makes up for his lack of projectiles. He can definitely take a little getting used to, but Vaseraga’s still an amazing character, and truly terrifying when he’s powered up with tons of armor.
4Lowain
Despite Being A Gag Character, Lowain Has A Plethora Of Tools That Make Him Incredibly Strong
A lot of fighting games will featuresome sort of gag character in their rosterwho can hold their own in a fight. Kuma fromTekkenand Dan fromStreet Fighterare just a few examples of this, and in this game, it would apply to the carefree assassin known as Lowain, but while he might have some pretty hilarious moves, he’s extremely dangerous in the right hands.
His dual daggers can easily cut an enemy to ribbons by performing a chain combo, but he can also keep the enemy at a safe distance by using his missiles which can apply pressure while he hangs back and can also counter any zoners who might be getting a little too trigger-happy. Lowain can also heal himself by munching on a few snacks, and since the ability is incredibly fast, it means that players learning him should get into the habit of using it as much as possible during an intense bout.
3Gran
Gran Is An All-Rounder With Some Amazing Rushdown Potential
Gran is essentially the shoto character of the game, possessing the classic fireball and fiery uppercut as seen with characters like Ryu inStreet Fighter, but he’s also just a little more aggressive than the usual characters who fit this fighter archetype. One of his most powerful moves is his Boot, which flings Gran directly at the opponent without a delay, allowing him to start cooking up combos like nobody’s business once he gets in close.
If players charge up the boot by using its EX version, the attack will bounce the other fighter off the wall, which can lead tosome pretty unforgiving juggle combos. Gran excels at rushing down his opponent thanks to his quick movements, but he can still keep a safe distance thanks to his fireballs too, making him an amazing all-rounder for beginners to try out.
2Katalina
Katalina Can Easily Control The Momentum Of A Fight Thanks To Her Long-Ranged Poke Attacks
When it comes to controlling the neutral game, Katalina is one of the best fighters in the entire game, with her pokes being extremely fast to throw out, and very damaging if they manage to land. The majority of Katalina’s attacks will push the opponent in the opposite direction, so she’s very much a character who excels at keeping the enemy at bay while whittling down their health bar in the process.
Due tothe sheer number of long-ranged attacks she has, it makes it extremely difficult for anyone to get close to Katalina when she’s being used correctly, and as if that wasn’t all, she also has a fireball for good measure too. Katalina’s an incredibly dangerous character who is all about keeping herself protected to force the opponent into making a risky mistake to try and take her down.
1Percival
Percival’s Always Been A Strong Fighter, But He’s Almost Unstoppable In His Latest Iteration
While Percival is an extremely easy character to learn, he’s also incredibly strong in more or less every department. Percival has always been known for being one of the best fighters in previous games, and Arc System has seemingly decided to keep this tradition going, especially thanks to howhe can power up his attacks with Stocks, allowing him to deal an incredible amount of damage in barely any time at all.
On top of that, he also has a quick and powerful fireball projectile, along with some downright ridiculous neutral moves that can stretch halfway across the screen due to the size of his sword. The majority of these moves can also be canceled into other moves, giving him plenty of combo potential and ultimately making him unstoppable once players get used to all the tools and attacks at their disposal.
