ADungeons and Dragonsfan recreated theHonor Among Thievescharacter Doric inBaldur’s Gate 3. The game’s been in PC early access since 2020, with the official Windows and Mac release coming next month, a PS5 port in September, and an Xbox Series X/S planned for later on. ManyDungeons and Dragonsfans are excited byBaldur’s Gate 3’s 1.0 release, and this inspired a fan to base their character on one from the recent movie.
TheBaldur’s Gateseries and theHonor Among Thievesmovie take place in theForgotten Realmscampaign setting fromDungeons and Dragons. BioWare, Black Isle Studios, and Interplay Entertainment released the first game in 1998, withBaldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amnlaunching in 2000. However, the series entered a period of relative inactivity afterDark Alliance 2in 2004. TheBaldur’s Gateseries wouldn’t continue until 2016’sSiege of Dragonspearexpansion forBaldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition.

Reddit user tommypicture recently shared theirTeifling Druid fromBaldur’s Gate 3, having based the character on Doric fromDungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. As theBaldur’s Gate 3player explained, they are excited about the game’s upcoming full release. Therefore, tommypicture has been diving into as muchD&Dcontent as possible. After watchingDungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, they read the prequel novelThe Druid’s Calldepicting how Doric joined the Emerald Enclave. The movie and book inspired tommypicture to play as a version of Doric inBaldur’s Gate 3.
D&Das a franchise does not have the perfect track record for movie adaptations. However,Honor Among Thievessaw a much more positive reception, earning critical acclaim and bringing in over $208 million at the box office. Given the movie’s popularity, it’s not surprising that someBaldur’s Gate 3players decide to base their characters on ones from the film.
Developers only recently added the ability for players to tweak the character preset faces inBaldur’s Gate 3, and it still doesn’t offer the extremely detailed level ofcharacter customization seen in some RPGs. Nevertheless, tommypicture did a pretty good job recreating Doric in the game. While the player couldn’t perfectly replicate actress Sophia Lillis' facial features, they created a pretty good approximation of how she looks in the movie.
The post was received positively on theBaldur’s Gate 3subreddit, with commenters praising how much the character looks like Doric. One commenter specifically pointed to the character’s expression as a significant factor in creating the likeness to actress Sophia Lillis. Another commenter said that tommypicture’s character could pass as an older version of Doric.
Baldur’s Gate 3releases on August 3 for PC, on September 6 for PS5, and is in development for Xbox Series X/S.
