Bakugo Explosive Speed

Over the years, he’s honed his Quirk quite well and has used his powers in incredible ways to reach the top. At the same time,Bakugo has managed to keep up with the likes of Dekuby developing several incredible super moves.

Note: This list isn’t ranked by the power of the moves.

Bakugo Stun Grenade

Updated by Rei Penber on June 15, 2025:Katsuki Bakugo is one of the main characters in My Hero Academia and also one of the strongest. He is a character who, just like Deku, wants to be the Number One Hero and was inspired by All Might ever since he was a little child. Bakugo has, since then, become a hero aspirant and currently studies alongside Deku at UA High School. He has also developed into one of the strongest characters, surpassing even some Pro Heroes already. Thanks to his Quirk, Explosion, Bakugo possesses tremendous fighting capabilities. He also has several destructive moves under his belt. While this list already goes over his most destructiveBakugo moves, there are certainly others that deserve a mention. As such, this list has been updated accordingly.

12Explosive Speed

Explosive Speed isone of Bakugo’s main powersthat sees him make very clever use of his Quirk. While usually the Explosion Quirk is used to blow his opponents away, Bakugo has also figured out ways to use it to make himself stronger.

By using the explosions to propel himself, he is able to travel at extremely fast speeds, which is nothing short of incredible. He has shown the ability to use this technique on both the ground and in the air, making it quite useful in all situations. With time, his usage of this technique has only gotten much better and he continues to refine it even today.

11Stun Grenade

Yet another incredible application of his Explosion Quirk, Stun Grenade was first used by Bakugo Katsuki against Fumikage Tokoyami. This technique, as the name suggests, allows him to produce a scale of light that can blind his enemies quite easily by blowing up into a massive flash.

This gives Bakugo the time and space to prepare for his next move in order to take them by surprise or, if needed, to make a tactical retreat. In the Joint Training Exams arc, he developed a stronger version of this technique called Point-Blank Stun Grenade the effects of which lasted longer and even damaged the enemies to some extent.

Bakugo Howitzer Impact

10Point-Blank Stun Grenade

Point-Blank Stun Grenade is an exceptional move that demonstrates Bakugo’s control over his Explosion Quirk. This technique was first used during the Joint Training Exam Arc where he faced Setsuna Tokage, an exceptionally skilled student from class 1B. This technique does no lasting damage but, as the name suggests, acts just like a stun grenade that is launched at a point-blank distance.

It completely incapacitates the user for a few seconds and dulls their senses. This technique has likely gotten much stronger since Bakugo’s general level of strength has increased since then. It is extremely useful in combat where he needs to keep his enemies alive but also incapacitate them in some way.

Bakugo AP Shot

9Howitzer Impact

Howitzer Impact is, by far, the strongest technique that Bakugo has in his arsenal for now. The technique is quite complex and sees him make use of the Explosion Quirk to the fullest. To perform it, Bakugo propels himself in the air using his explosions and then spins at an extremely fast speed to create a tornado.

This is done to make sure there is enough oxygen to fuel the flashy attack that follows next. Upon making contact with the target, Bakugo then releases a massive explosion that can engulf even buildings with ease. According to Present Mic, the power of this technique can be compared to a missile, which is extraordinary.

8AP Shot

AP Shot, also known as Armor Piercing Shot, sees Bakugo make clever use of his explosion powers to cause precise damage, such as piercing armor, or dealing with multiple incoming projectiles. This technique sees him use one of his hands to generate a powerful explosion and the other to form a circle to help concentrate the blast into a beam.

Bakugo then fires the explosion with all his might and generates a beam capable of piercing thick stones and even rock. He has also developed a rapid-fire version of the technique, called AP Shot: Machine Gun, and a weaker version of the machine gun technique, called AP Shot: Auto Cannon.

7AP-Shot Auto Cannon

AP-Shot Auto Cannon is another incredible technique developed by Bakugo by improvising on his Explosion abilities. The parent technique for this skill is the AP Shot. Auto Cannon allows him to make use of his Explosion Quirk as if he were in possession of a machine gun. Bakugo can rapid-fire explosions from his palms with this technique and the great thing about it is that these explosions are very precise and do not do lasting damage to the surroundings or the targets themselves.

Bakugo can only damage his opponent as much as he wants, which is essential for a Hero. In terms of his Hero development, this technique sums up Bakugo’s growth very well. He developed this amazing technique during the Provisional Hero License Exam arc.

Bakugo X Catapult

6Explode-A-Pult

Also known as X Catapult, Explode-A-Pult is a powerful technique that Bakugo usually performs in mid-air. This technique sees him grab his opponent with one of his arms and use the other one to generate powerful explosions to create a spinning motion. Once he generates enough momentum, he then uses a big explosion to send his opponent flying.

This technique is incredibly powerful and usually sees his enemies crash into nearby structures with tremendous force. Bakugo used this technique in the Joint Training Exams' fourth round to deal with Togaru Kamakiri, however, he likely toned it down to avoid lasting damage.

5Land Mine Blast

As the name suggests, Land Mine Blast sees Bakugo blow up the ground, in a sense. By placing one of his grenadier bracers on the ground, he prepares a massive explosion that he then fires off straight downwards. The force generated is enough to blow away anything in his immediate surroundings, akin to a land mine.

Bakugo first used the Land Mine Blast technique inMy Hero Academia: Heroes Risingbut as his power grows, so does the intensity of his explosions. Currently, his Land Mine Blast should be incredibly powerful as he is capable of keeping up with Izuku Midoriya close to50% of his One For All powers.

4Blasting Speed Turbo: Cluster

One of Bakugo’s strongest powers, Blasting Speed Turbo: Cluster is an incredible ability that he inadvertently usedduring the Paranormal Liberation War arc. The technique is quite similar to Explosive Speed in application, however, here, Bakugo concentrates his explosions to generate far more power.

Furthermore, he unleashes a number of explosions rapidly to move at blinding speeds. When used in the war, he was able to save Deku from Shigaraki Tomura andAll For One’s Rivet Stab technique. At its best, the technique can even rival the power of One For All.

3Howitzer Impact: Cluster

Howitzer Impact is one of Bakugo’s strongest techniques and one that he attempted to use as his ultimate move against Shoto Todoroki when they fought long ago in the story. It was established that Howitzer Impact is one of his ultimate moves and, over the course of his training,Bakugo has grown significantly stronger. As such, he has developed stronger versions of this technique as well.

Howitzer impact: Cluster was developed by him after managing to learn the Cluster technique. By making use of the Cluster technique and the equipment called Strafe Panze, Bakugo is able to release much larger explosions and propel himself forward with far more intensity than ever before. This technique is truly fearsome as it allows him to release explosions in all directions and do great damage. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that this is Bakugo’s strongest technique ever. The fact that he unleashed it recently in the Final War arc against Shigaraki Tomura just goes on to show that this technique is his strongest. Furthermore, he also managed to do lasting damage to Tomura with this technique, and that in itself is proof of its power.
