Summary
Being an action/adventure game with RPG elements, it’s only natural thatAvatar: Frontiers of Pandorashares a lot of the same DNA as some of the biggest AAA RPGs out there right now. Just a few of these similarities include an extensiveskill tree system, an emphasis on finding increasingly higher levels of gear and upgrading them over time with special resources, and a large open-world map to explore with plenty of side activities littered throughout.
But aside from those general similarities,Avatar: Frontiers of PandoraandCyberpunk 2077don’t have all that much in common. The games' respective settings are drastically different, as are their tones and intended audiences.AvatarandCyberpunkuse completely different character archetypes, story influences, and their selection of in-game weapons and gadgets are also wildly different. However, there’s one pretty sizable problem that bothAvatar: Frontiers of PandoraandCyberpunk 2077share.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Shares a Problem With Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk’s First-Person Perspective Makes Customization Redundant
Cyberpunk 2077obviously had no shortage of issues when it first launched in December 2020. While many of these issues were technical, many fans did have some gripes about the game’s actual content as well, and the lack of certain features. One of the biggest complaints fans had aboutCyberpunk 2077was that there was no third-person mode, and it’s still one of the few popular issues thatCD Projekt Red hasn’t fixed post-launch.
Featuring an incredibly in-depth character creator, and putting a heavy emphasis on gear and cosmetics, it’s only natural that fans would want to see their custom character at all times during theirCyberpunk 2077playthrough. Unfortunately, the vast majority ofCyberpunk 2077is played in first-person, meaning that players can only really catch a glimpse of their unique outfit and appearance when they stumble upon a mirror in the wild, which isn’t something that many players are going to want to spend time seeking out. While it’s not a huge issue, it is still something that fans want to see added toCyberpunk 2077.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Follows in Cyberpunk’s Footsteps
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandorashares this same problem withCyberpunk 2077. Right at the start ofAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players are given the opportunity to create their own custom character. ThoughAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s customization optionsaren’t all that impressive, their very existence in the game encourages the player’s desire to see their character’s appearance during the course of the game, which they can’t usually do as most ofAvataris played from a first-person perspective.
Much likeCyberpunk,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandoraalso puts a heavy emphasis on finding new pieces of gear, all of which change the player-character’s appearance quite a bit. Unfortunately, after equipping the item in the game’s character menu, they’ll very rarely be able to see it again. One thing thatAvatar: Frontiers of Pandoradoes slightly better thanCyberpunkin this regard is give players a third-person perspective while riding mounts, though the camera is usually zoomed-out quite a bit, and it’s often difficult to spin the camera around to get a better look at the player-character’s appearance from front-on.
Thankfully,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandoradoes feature plenty of customization options that can be seen throughout the game. Just likeCyberpunk 2077’s vehicles,Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s Ikrancan be customized in a variety of ways, from its saddle type to its skin markings and color to its headgear, all of which can be seen throughout the course of the game.
