Summary
Ubisoft narrowed down the release windows of theAssassin’s Creed Miragepermadeath and New Game Plus modes, revealing that the latter will be arriving next week, while the former is still some way from coming out. TheNew Game Plus mode forAssassin’s Creed Miragewas originally announcedin mid-November.
On that occasion, Ubisoft also confirmed that its Bordeaux team is working on adding an optional permadeath feature to the game. While technically described as a mode, permadeath is planned to be implemented in the form of an optional rule set that’s available across all threeAssassin’s Creed Miragedifficulty levels, which suggests players will be able to enable it by simply toggling a checkbox when starting a new game.
Ubisoft took to Twitter on December 7 to offer an update on its development progress, stating that permadeath will be coming toAssassin’s Creed Miragein early 2024. Its PR track record indicates that the company will share a more concrete release window for the permadeath update once the feature is closer to completion. Case in point: the studio just revealed that the previously announced New Game Plus mode will be arriving toAssassin’s Creed Miragenext week.
While the wording of that announcement suggests that the New Game Plus update may drop as late as Sunday, December 17, the patch will ostensibly be out a few days beforehand. That’s according to the release history of theexistingAssassin’s Creed Mirageupdates, all of which rolled out between Monday and Wednesday of their respective launch weeks. Looking at the bigger picture, Ubisoft historically favored debuting both patches and newAssassin’s Creedgames during the workweek, so that will plausibly be the case with this upcoming update, as well.
The patch will presumably be between 2 GB and 5 GB in size, depending on the platform, as that’s how muchAssassin’s Creedupdates have weighed on average since the series moved to the Ubisoft Anvil engine, formerly AnvilNext 2.0, withValhalla. It is currently unclear whether any other bug fixes or performance improvements will be part of the upcoming update, which will either bumpAssassin’s Creed Mirageup to version 1.0.6 or 1.1.0, based on Ubisoft’s historic preference for using semantic versioning (SemVer) to annotate its game builds.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage iOS Port May Launch With Permadeath Update
As for the game’s permadeath mode, its newly confirmed timing coincides with the previously revealed release window of theAssassin’s Creed MirageiOS port, which is also planned to come out in early 2024. Even should the iPhone and iPad version of the game release before its permadeath update, it shouldn’t be long before it receives that functionality, as Ubisoft already confirmed that the mobile port ofMiragewill offer feature parity with the other versions.
