While competing in the ALGS Championship event on Saturday, ImperialHal and his teammates came across an unusual situation during one of their matches on theWorld’s Edge map. Heading towards the train tracks just outside Fragment East, the pro player noticed an opponent standing in the open, not moving. Quickly recognizing that the enemy player had likely lost connection, ImperialHal called out to his teammates, telling them not to open fire. TSM then proceeded to back away from the player, leaving them alone instead of attacking them.

The unusual circumstance of this event is definitely noteworthy. While it is unknown how other pros would have handled the situation as there seems to be no rule forbidding players from killing disconnected opponents, it is still refreshing to see a gamer show sportsmanship to their fellow competitors in the middle of a match. In addition, it is worth noting that the ALGS Championship includes a $2 million prize pool, making this decision to spare the AFK player even more notable as it could have impacted TSM’s chances of winning the event.

Since ImperialHal made this decision not to kill the disconnected player, numerous fans have commented on the situation. Among the comments, most fans were impressed by the sportsmanship displayed by the pro player during the middle of a high-stakes match, with many tweeting their support. In fact, ImperialHal has since commented on his own in-game decision. “It’s the least every player can do out here with these issues,” the pro player noted, likely referring to the connectionproblems in Season 13 ofApex Legends.

Fortunately, this show of sportsmanship by ImperialHal has not compromised his team’s chances of winning the ALGS event. ImperialHal, along with his fellow TSM squadmates Reps and Verhulst, still managed to move on to the championship round of ALGS taking place today. Time will tell if TSM or one of the other top competitive teams comes home with the top prize. Regardless of which team wins, hopefully, there will be no connection issues inApex Legendsduring the grand finals for the sake of those competing.
