WhileApex Legendsis a first-person shooter battle royale game first and foremost, the game does have plenty of lore and worldbuilding for players to get invested in. In fact,Apex Legends' in-game treasure packsare easy ways for players to get small glimpses of lore during each season of the Apex Games.
Now,Apex Legendsis getting yet another piece of extended universe lore in the form of a brand new Dark Horse comic collaboration. The newApex Legendscomic will be a four-issue limited series calledApex Legends: Overtime, releasing on June 09, 2025,and will be penned byTitanfallandTitanfall 2writer Jesse Stern and illustrated with the help of several artists.

The news comes by way of IGN, which received an exclusive first look preview of theApex Legends: Overtimecomic. Of course, the most eye-catching element of the preview is the cover art of the first issue, which sees Mirage and Crypto staring down a simulacrum that could very well be theplayable in-game Legend Revenant. The official story teaser given by Dark Horse comics keeps things brief, reading, “In the comic series, the Legends find themselves pulled together to rescue the city from Mad Scientists, brutal assassins, and the sudden and sinister grip of The Syndicate, a corrupt cabal attempting to “fix” arena outcomes in their favor.”
While the summary naturally keeps things somewhat vague as to not spoil the story too much, it does mention that the story takes place on Solace, which is the planetwhere the King’s Canyon map is located. However, another very interesting element of the comic reveal is the artists attached to the project, Neil Edwards, Keith Champagne, Antonio Fabela, and Nate Piekos. Edwards has worked on comics for Marvel, DC, and even on the Titan Comics’Assassin’s Creedseries, and will be the primary illustrator for the comic. Champange, who has similarly worked on DC, Marvel, and even Dark Horse’sStranger Thingscomic series, will provide inking for theApexcomic series.
Fabela, who has also worked on Marvel and DC comics, will provide colors for the series. Finally, Piekos, who is an award-winning letterer who has worked with several major comic book publishers including Dark Horse comics, will provide the lettering forApex Legends: Overtime. All in all, the entire team attached to the project is incredibly capable in their own areas of expertise. With Stern attached to the series, who wroteTitanfallas well asTitanfall 2’s single-player campaign story, the series will no doubt stay true toApex Legends' existing lore while expanding the story even further.
The story will undoubtedly introduce some great bits of lore that fans of the battle royale will appreciate. It would not be too surprising if theApex Legends: Overtimecomic series revealed big character mysteries, similarly to how thePathfinder’s Questlore bookrevealed what Octane’s face looks likeunder his mask. Fans ofApex Legendscan look forward toApex Legends: Overtimewhen the comic releases in both digital and print later this summer.
Apex Legendsis available now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
