In a rather awesome turn of events, the Metropolitan Museum of Arts has decided to make the over 400,000 pieces in its public database available forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers to use. The process is incredibly simple and works withany piece of arton the database. It’s even free of charge!
This isn’t the first museum to do something like this, as The Getty Museum also released some of its pieces forAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, albeit that collection was more than twice as small. With hundreds of thousands of choices, players have no excuse not to include some fine art in theirAnimal Crossingcreations.

The pieces can be found on the Metropolitan Museum of Arts' open access database, and with a click of a button, the website will convert the artwork into aQR codethat players can scan and then use in their creations on theirAnimal Crossingislands.
Click or tap the image above to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Arts' database and start perusing the hundreds of thousands of art choices available. After finding a particularly interesting piece of art, the connoisseur should select it, viewing its full page. From here, choose the share option and theAnimal Crossingleaf logoshould be there next to the other, standard social media options. Clicking on this logo will pull up a toolbar with a QR code as well as a preview of what the art will look like in-game. There is even a tool to select a specific part of the artwork.
It’s worth noting that only open source artwork with pictures will work in this process, but that still leaves plenty to pick from. Want aportrait of George Washington? It’s on there. How about a portrait of Archangel Gabriel? The options are nearly endless, so players should have some fun with it. Of course, since these are auto-generated from the images, they will be somewhat low resolution, especially when compared to the art the player can buy from Redd. That said, this is still pretty amazing, especially since real-life museums are making these collections available for players.
Players would do well to keep an eye out for other museums to follow suit, as more and more designs will no doubt start making their way online.Animal Crossing: New Horizonsoffers players a ton in terms of creativity, but the ability toshare these creationsis by far its greatest strength.
