Fans of theAliensfranchise and its latest co-op horde shooterAliens: Fireteam Elitewere treated to a first look at the upcoming Pathogen DLC during the IGN Expo. The DLC is shaping up to be a major content boost forAliens: Fireteam Elite,complete with never-before-seen Xenomorph forms, an extremely challenging hardcore mode, and a plethora of new equipment for the game’s Colonial Marines.
Aliens: Fireteam Elitewas released in Augustlast year and has enjoyed a generally positive reception from fans and critics who praised its action-packed campaign, frantic pace, and satisfying horde-slaying combat thatLeft 4 DeadandWorld War Zfans will find instantly familiar. Players take on the roles of fireteam members inAliens' Colonial Marines as they fight off waves of lethal Xenomorphs across a variety of locales. With an arsenal of weapons, perks, and classes to choose from, players can mix and match playstyles to form an equally deadly squad of marines.

The upcoming Pathogen DLC has been revealed along with a trailer detailing some of the action players can expect in the new three-mission campaign expansion. Marines are seen battling swarms of all-new Xenomorph lifeforms amidst the bodies of Engineers, the humanoid precursorsseen in the filmPrometheus. The trailer also showcases some of the new weapons and equipment, along with fan favorites, such as the shoulder-mounted Particle Lance. Towards the end of the trailer, it’s hinted that the Marines will likely have to face off against a giant mutated queen Xenomorph, which should be particularly challenging with the DLC’s new hardcore difficulty mode.
Tohelp the Colonial Marines survivethese challenges, the Pathogen DLC is introducing a variety of new equipment, including new weapons and perks, as well as plenty of new customization options. Eight new weapons are being added to the armory, with 26 new attachments to modify each of them further. Each class is also receiving an additional perk to choose from, which will modify their special ability. All seven class kits are receiving two additional outfits, along with six head accessories, nine gun decals, 21 weapon colors, and a collection of new emotes.
This will be thefirst major DLC forAliens: Fireteam Elite, although the game has received a steady stream of additional content drops over the course of its seasons.Aliens: Fireteam Elitefans have a lot to look forward to in the game’s future as more DLC is likely in the works. The Pathogen DLC is expected to be released on August 30.
