Pokémonhas been one of the biggest gaming franchises ever since it started back in 1996. Naturally, it has a large fandom, which is currently enjoying the recently released DLC forPokémon Sword & Shield. The Crown Tundraadded a whole new area, Pokémon, additional forms, story content, and more, giving players a host of content to keep them busy, for a little while at least.

One thing that has plagued thePokémonseries since the beginning is its inability to accurately portray the true size of its Pokémon, with both thegames and the animeoften changing the size of Pokémon. When players start to look closer at Pokédex entries, they’ll see there are many Pokémon that are smaller than first thought. Check out these examples just below.
10Snorlax
Snorlax is one of the original 151 Pokémon from theKantoregion and has always been thought of as a pretty beefy monster as it blocks the pathways for players in the games. However, in both the games and the anime, Snorlax has been shown as larger than the Pokédex actually lists it at.
Snorlax stands at 6'11" according to the Pokédex, so although it’s taller than the average human character, it’s actually smaller than fans are led to believe based on its representation in both the games and the anime.
9Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl is one of the original 151 monsters that appeared inPokémon Red & Blue, making it one of the firstfossil type Pokémon. In the early games, it was very hard to gauge the size of Pokémon unless you read the Pokédex as they weren’t shown in the overworld like they are in more modern titles.
Given that Aerodactyl’s Pokédex entry often refers to it as having been “the king of the skies,” many players would be forgiven for believing it to be a much larger Pokémon. In actual fact, Aerodactyl is listed as being only 5'11", making it far smaller than the games would have you believe.
8Gengar
Gengar is one of the most recognizableGhost-type Pokémonin the series and has been around since the very beginning. It would surprise many to learn that Gengar is smaller than most fans presume and that it is actually smaller than Haunter, its previous evolutionary form.

InPokémon Sun & Moon, Gengar and Haunter look roughly around the same height. However, due to the latter hovering in the air, it makes Haunter appear smaller than Gengar. In actual fact, Gengar’s Pokédex entry has it listed at 4'11", while Haunter measures at 5'03".
7Lucario
Lucario is a firm fan-favorite and has been ever since it debuted in generation four with the release ofPokémon Diamond & Pearl. When seen in the overworld inPokémon Sword & Shield,Lucario isn’t much shorter than the trainer.
The Pokédex entry for Lucario lists its height as 3'11", which means it should be a much shorter height when compared to the human characters in the game. Lucario’s portrayal in theanime varies, with it often appearing as half the height of its trainer at times, whereas other times it is the same height as its trainer.
6Braixen
Braixen is the middle evolution of theFire-typestarter Fennekin that debuted inPokémon X & Y.In both the anime and the games, Braixen is shown to be considerably taller than it should be, with it being approximately the same height as Serena in the TV series.
According to the Pokédex, Braixen is actually smaller than Lucario, and should only be 3'03" in height, roughly three times the size of its smaller pre-evolution Fennekin that is listed as 1'04" tall.
5Bellossom
Bellossom is an adorable grass-type Pokémon that is one of the branching evolutions of Gloom when given aSun Stone. Bellossom is actually a lot smaller than most would believe, as it is one of the few occasions when a Pokémon is smaller than the creature it evolved from.
Bellossom’s Pokédex entry lists it at 1'04", whereas Gloom is listed at 2'07". Even the first in the evolutionary line, Oddish, is bigger than Bellossom, with the Pokédex listing the former at 1'08".
4Roselia
Roselia is a Grass/Poison-typePokémon that was first introduced inPokémon Ruby & Sapphire. In the games, Roselia is shown to be larger than it truly is. For instance, Hattrem’s Pokédex lists its size as 2'00", but Roselia’s Pokédex has it measuring at 1'00".

This means that Roselia should be half the size of Hattrem, but in the screenshot above it is only a little shorter. Roselia evolves from Budew when leveled up with high friendship, only gaining a couple of inches in size as Budew’s Pokédex entry has it measuring at 0'08".
3Mimikyu
Mimikyu and Pikachu are often shown as being roughly the same size in the games, which isn’t all that surprising considering that Mimikyu is mimicking Pikachu. However, the two should actually have a noticeable difference in size.
The Pokédex states that Mimkyu should be 0'08" and Pikachu should be 1'04". It could be argued that the false Pikachu “head” that Mimikyu wears as part of its deception is not counted in the measurement for its Pokédex entry, but generally, when it comes to Pokémon, the whole of them is counted in their listed size.
2Joltik
When Joltik is seen in battle or in the wild area inPokémon Sun & Moon, it is definitely on the small side, but it is actually portrayed as larger than it should be. This is likely because it’s true size would make it too small for it to be noticeable to players, so it was probably made larger for the game for ease.
This Bug/Electric-type is actually a mere 0'04" big, which is fairly big forthe bugs that we knowfrom the real-world. However, when it comes to Pokémon, it makes Joltik one of the smallest in the entire Pokédex.
1Comfey
Another Pokémon that has likely been made larger so that players can see it more clearly in the wild is Comfey. It’s still fairly small and is all too easy to miss if you’re speeding around on your room bike, but it’s actually far larger than it should be.
According to the Pokédex, Comfey should only be 0'04". It could be argued that if you ignore the floral crown that this Pokémon holds, it is closer to the size it should be, but as a whole, it is most definitely the wrong size.
