With rumors of a revised version of the Switch on the horizon, it seems like a great time to look over some fanmade Switch designs that Nintendo should really consider selling. Although many of these are just design concepts, some are actually customized Switch consoles that already work. All of these designs bring interesting ideas to the table, and Nintendo should be taking notes.
10Black & White
Although it’s simple, this custom black and white Switch design by cyndfl is gorgeous. The contrast between the colors makes the console pop, and it wouldn’t require too much effort on Nintendo’s part to make something like this a reality. Plus, the white design would look greatnext to the PS5once it launches later this year.
While the Switch has seen a lot of varied color designs for Joycons, it’s much rarer to see a full redesign that focuses on one thematic color scheme. If Nintendo started to offer these refreshed docks to go along with the console, people would probably buy them just as much as the Joycon variations.

9Doom Eternal Bundle
ThisDoom EternalSwitch bundle is made so much better just by how official it looks. Created by Frocharocha, this mockup not only shows a sleekDoom-inspired design but also includes ideas for extra features for the Switch version of the game.

With the Switch version ofDoom Eternalstill slated for release this year, Nintendo still has enough time to make this happen. It is possible that Nintendo wouldn’t go for the inclusion of Isabelle fromAnimal Crossing, but one can only hope.
8SNES Switch Dock
This custom Switch dock was created by Reddit user IMOKRUOK. The dock is built using an oldSuper Nintendo. Unlike most docks, the Switch is inserted at the top while the Joycons are placed on the sides. Combining this with a reskinned console would look amazing and add a nostalgic flair to putting away the Switch.
Although the design is awesome, the fact that players would have to separate the Joycons each time they dock the console makes it a little impractical. Either way, it’s a cool idea that would be interesting to see Nintendo attempt.
7Witcher 3 Switch Lite
ThisWitcher 3: The Wild Huntdesign, created by Swervito, is a great companion to the game on Switch. Other than the solid colors, there was only ever one Switch Lite redesign with the launch ofPokemon Sword and Shield. The Switch Lite’s compact design and lack of Joycons make it perfect for variations but, so far, Nintendo has been cautious to offer players much.
TheWitcher 3design is fitting, as the game has always been seen as a remarkable port for even running on the Switch. Honoring that success with a redesign feels fitting.
6Nintendo 1889
One of the most beautiful designs on this list comes from Reddit user Veetea. Inspired by the company history of Nintendo, this console utilizes vintage Nintendo card designs and logos to make a Switch that stands out from the crowd.

It was possible to add plates inspired by Hanafuda card decksto the 3DS, so something similar to this might not be completely off the table for Nintendo. It would be a great way to honor their past while creating a truly unique design for Switch.
5Zelda White & Blue Design
This vibrantZelda-themed mockup was created by JollyGee333. Unlike manyZeldareskins, the Switch features a flashy blue and white color scheme that complements Link’s tunic fromBreath of the Wildnicely.
It’s surprising that there hasn’t been an officialZeldadesigned Switch bundle to match the success that the series has had on the console. A reskinned Switch like this would be perfect as part of a bundle with thesequel toBreath of the Wild, or the prequel that was announced recently.
4Gold Smash Bros. Ultimate Design
This concept, created by smashbrosmemes, is actually just a rework of the officialSuper Smash Bros. UltimateSwitch that was released alongside the game. However, this one features a glossy gold finish and colorized characters, which improves the look.
While the originalSmashSwitch was cool, its use of a grey on black art style made it seem muted and underwhelming. This design only changes a few things, but it makes the console look more vibrant, colorful, and unique. Plus, the painted look of the characters adds a nice touch.
3N64 Switch Lite
This simple redesign comes from Bicudones, who wanted to reskin the Switch Lite to match the classicNintendo 64controller. The only issue with this design is that the button layout doesn’t match the colors of the original N64, but this is on Nintendo for switching their button placement.

What these small touches show is that there is a lot of potential for alternate console versions that do a lot with minimal changes. If Nintendo wanted to capitalize more on nostalgia, these minor design tweaks would work wonders.
2Animal Crossing Alternative Design
There was already anAnimal Crossingthemed Switch released withAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, but this design by cutestkaiju is still really amazing. The muted blue meshes well with the creamy ivory, which fits the island aesthetic of the new game perfectly.
While theAnimal Crossingversion of the Switch is one of the best examples of Nintendo getting a redesign right, it’s still incredible to see what fans are capable of creating on their own.
1Switch Arcade
For something more unconventional, Lucsdf created a mockup of what an official Nintendo Switch arcade add-on could look like. The design features a shell that players would be able to insert their Switch into to play games with a traditional arcade layout.
Although there are some issues with this design, such as the orientation of the screen, it does offer an interesting way that Nintendo could enhance fighting games and arcade ports. There have even been players who have done something similar withNintendo Labo, so there are a few ways that they could implement something similar to this.
