Godzilla is known as the King of the Monsters and for good reason. For over half a century, Godzilla has taken ona lot of opponents. Many kaiju have fought against him and only a few of them have truly won against him. With his enormous size and great strength, Godzilla is a truly a fearsome kaiju.

He has a long list of enemies and has teamed up some of them from time to time. Regardless, Godzilla has met hisfair share of various kaiju. Here is a list of some of the best fights in theGodzilllafranchise.
10Godzilla vs. Anguirus InGodzilla Raids Again
The first kaiju rival of Godzilla. Anguirus doesn’t have any special abilities compared to otherGodzillarivals, but is a very sturdy kaiju. He was able to knock Godzilla to the ground and put up a good physical fight. Using his teeth and claws, he and Godzilla were evenly matched. This wouldn’t last long though. Godzilla manages to overpower Anguirus and burns him to death with his Atomic Breath. Compared to other fights, this one may seem short, but it’s what started the long history of pitting Godzillaagainst other kaiju.
9Godzilla Vs. Orga InGodzilla 2000: Millennium
Though inexperienced, Orga proved to be a challenging opponent for Godzilla. He adsorbed Godzilla’s DNA and rapidly changed, becoming more like him. Godzilla outmatched Orga in terms of strength and experience, but Orga’s rapid regeneration made it tough. He was able to heal himself within seconds after getting hit with Godzilla’s Red Spiral Ray attack. To defeat him, Godzilla ran head first into Orga’s mouth and allowed himself to be partially absorbed. Orga was defeated when Godzilla unleashed a nuclear pulse inside him and killed him.
8Godzilla, Mothra, And Rodan Vs. King Ghidorah inGhidorah, The Three-Headed Monster
Godzilla’s first time teaming up with others. With King Ghidorah’s arrival to Earth, Mothra asks Godzilla and Rodan for help. At first, they refuse to help her and fight each other. Mothra fought the space monster by herself for a while. She’s brutally beaten by King Ghidorah and almost dies fighting him. Touched by her courage, Godzilla and Rodan eventually joined the fight. Though King Ghidorah outmatched them individually, he was no match for their combined powers and retreated into space.
7Godzilla Vs. Battra And Mothra InGodzilla Vs. Mothra, The Battle For Earth
Battra is a guardian of Earth like Mothra, but wishes to end humanity unlike her. The final fight in this movie begins with Mothra and Battra fighting each other. Godzilla shows up to the fight and nearly kills Mothra several times. Realizing that Godzilla is a bigger threat, Battra and Mothra put their differences aside and fight him together. After a long and grueling fight, their teamwork pays off and Godzilla is defeated.

The two moth guardians take Godzilla’s body to the sea in hopes of sealing him away forever. However, Godzilla shoots his Atomic Breath at Battra at point-blank range and kills him. Mothra manages to dump him along with Battra’s body into the sea and seals Godzilla away for the time being.
6Godzilla vs. The MUTOs InGodzilla (2014)
A strong power couple, the MUTOs fought Godzilla a few times throughout the movie. With their teamwork and strong desire to keep their nest safe, the MUTO couple were able to beat Godzilla for a short time. This desire would end up being their downfall. After their nest is destroyed, the couple gets distracted and leave Godzilla, giving him time to recover.
The male M.U.T.O dies while giving the female to find the human responsible for the nest’s destruction. Godzilla manages to sneak up on the female while she’s distracted and kills her shooting his Atomic Breath down her throat.
5Godzilla Vs. SpaceGodzilla InGodzilla Vs.SpaceGodzilla
A clone of Godzilla made in space, SpaceGodzilla is one of the most unique villains in theGodzillafranchise. After landing on Earth, he attacks Godzilla Junior. Godzilla saves him from his blasts, but is defeated during their first fight. He receives help from humans during the final fight. The humans helped by going underground and knocking down the foundations of SpaceGodzilla’s power source. This gave Godzilla the advantage and weakened his foe. With SpaceGodzilla close to exploding, Godzilla finished him off with several Red Sprial Ray attacks.
4Godzilla Vs. Super MechaGodzilla InGodzilla Vs. MechaGodzilla II
Similar to King Ghidorah, MechaGodzilla has fought Godzilla many times. InGodzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II, the humans plan onkilling Godzilla and using MechaGodzillaas the way to do it. During their first fight, MechaGodzilla is able to go toe-to-toe with Godzilla, but short-circuited. In the final fight, MechaGodzilla manages to take out Rodan and left Godzilla paralyzed.

This victory didn’t last long. Rodan transferred his life force to Godzilla as a final act. With Rodan’s power, Godzilla gained the new ability, the Red Spiral Ray, and used this to defeat MechaGodzilla.
3Godzilla And Mothra Vs. Keizer Ghidorah And Gigan inGodzilla Final Wars
A battle of kaiju featuringfan-favorites of theGodzillaseries. During the final fight inGodzilla Final Wars, Gigan and Keizer Ghidorah (who was in his Monster X form), team up against Godzilla that put him at a disadvantage. Mothra joins the fight and takes on Gigan while Godzilla took on Keizer Ghidorah. She was able to hold her own against Gigan. He shot her with his laser beam and her body erupted in flames. Gigan’s head was sliced off by his own razors discs that he’d shot at her earlier. Mothra used her flame-covered to take out his headless body, destroying him for good.
Transforming from his Monster X form, Keizer Ghidorah and Godzilla resume their fight. Keizer Ghidorah initially has the advantage. He nearly succeeds in draining Godzilla of his lifeforce, but after receiving a power boost the tables turned. Godzilla managed to take out two of Keizer Ghidorah’s heads then took him out a single Red Spiral Ray attack.
2Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah inGodzilla vs. Destoroyah
Considered the most sadistic villain in theGodzillafranchise. Destoroyah is a kaiju that not only destroys everything around him, but actually enjoys it. He is also one of the few enemies that attack Godzilla emotionally. In the final battle, he kills Godzilla Junior to emotionally torment Godzilla and weaken him. With Godzilla being close to nuclear meltdown, Destoroyah came close to defeating him.
With the long fight taking a lot out of them, Godzilla’s rising temperature reached critical levels and critically wounded Destoroyah. Destoroyah tried to flee, but was shot down by freezer cannons that froze his wings. With the ground super-heated by Godzilla’s presence, Destoroyah dies when he falls to the ground.
1Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah InGodzilla: King Of The Monsters
Godzilla and King Ghidorah have fought each other many times in the series for over half a century.King Ghidorah’s appearanceinGodzilla: King of the Monsterswas a terrifying one. The final fight is a sight to behold for fans as both kaijus hold nothing back in their fight. King Ghidorah manages to get the upper hand until Mothra shows up. Weakened from her own fight with Rodan, Mothra protects Godzilla from Ghidorah’s blast. Her ashes fall on him and gives him the boost he needs.
With her power, Godzilla gains the ability to emit a thermonuclear pulse that incinerates King Ghidorah. With two heads gone and unable to defend himself, King Ghidorah met his end at Godzilla’s Atomic Breath.
